MEET THE TEAM

James runs the farm and can regularly be seen messing about with various bits of agricultural equipment. He likes nothing better than jumping in the tractor and heading off to plough, cut for hay or bale straw or looking after the sheep and cows. He always has time for a chat or pass the time of day with our guests with a rubbish joke or amusing anecdote, and is happy to help if anyone has a problem. He is also the BBQ king of the campsite having done a few pig roasts on the spit. When he has time, which isn’t as often as he would like, he likes going out for a bike ride around the area.

Also known as the chicken lady! Sarah is generally in charge of the poly tunnels and allotment but likes to keep an eye on the chickens and chicks. She is usually the first person you speak to when getting in touch, or meet when arriving on site. Generally Sarah is the one who cuts the grass to make sure the pitches are ready to welcome our next guests. Sarah also likes to make her own bread and pizza dough but will tell you the local boulangeries in Charroux and Pressac make beautiful French bread and patisseries which really must be tried.

Once known as ‘Professor Messer’ when we first arrived in France in 2016 he has grown up a bit! Having gone through the French school system since he was 10 he is now fluent in French and following a career in agriculture having gained an excellent grade in his ‘Bac Pro’. He loves to help James with the various farming jobs when he is home from his studies and can drive the tractor with ease. Matthew is looking to follow a career in agriculture breeding pedigree bull calves and rams. He loves fishing locally and can help advise our guests who want to fish too.

These three beautiful, black Labradors are our official welcoming committee, although we do make sure our guests are happy to meet the dogs before we let them say hello. Sadly, Willow, on the left, passed away in the autumn of 2024 at the ripe old age of 12 years. She had had a fantastic life with us on the farm joining in our French adventure. She  is mother to Oakley, on the right, who is 7 this year. Truffle, the big boy in the middle, is Oakley’s son and will be 3 years old this summer. They all love everybody and just love checking up on our guests. Unfortunately we have discovered that Truffle has a tendency to help himself to shoes or wellies, so we do have to keep an eye on him and thankfully he hasn’t shredded any yet!
